S-Anon established a social media presence on TikTok in June 2022 and added Instagram in February 2023. Our social media presence has been supported entirely through volunteer effort. For over four years, a handful of dedicated members have carried out that work—reformatting our literature, building content, and finding ways to reach more of those who could benefit from the S-Anon program.

To build on that foundation, the Board of Trustees (BOT) has approved a one-year trial contract position of a part-time Social Media Coordinator—a member of the fellowship who will work closely with the Public Information and Outreach Committee (PIOC) and the World Service Office (WSO) to keep our Instagram and TikTok presence active and consistent. This is a limited, maintenance-focused role: the coordinator will reformat and publish content we have already produced, drawn from Conference Approved Literature published on the S-Anon blog and WSO Update articles, rather than setting new direction or creating strategy. Content will continue to be developed with direction from the PIOC/WSO and reviewed and approved through the PIOC.

The goal of this position is to make sure S-Anon maintains a consistent social media presence, so that when someone is searching for help—for themselves or for a family member affected by sex addiction—S-Anon is easier to find. Our Fifth Tradition centers our purpose on helping families and friends of sexaholics, while Tradition Eleven reminds us that our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion. Making information about S-Anon available via additional communication channels is an extension of those same principles. In addition, a consistent social media presence builds credibility with helping professionals by increasing visibility, demonstrating ongoing engagement, and helping them see the impact of our organization.

Over the coming year, the BOT will use information gained through this trial position to analyze our social media reach and engagement to help guide our continuing development of digital outreach services.

We’re grateful to the volunteers who built our social media presence from the ground up and glad to see this next step take shape. Do you think you’re a good fit for this position? Read the Social Media Coordinator Job Description and how to apply here.
