As S-Anon continues to grow worldwide, our service literature continues to evolve alongside it. Recently, the Board of Trustees approved updates and new guidance intended to better support developing service structures outside of North America.
One recent update includes replacing the term “National Service Conference” with “General Service Conference” in existing Service Literature pieces related to service structure development outside North America. While no service structure outside North America has yet developed to this stage, these Service Literature updates help proactively address future growth as S-Anon service structures mature around the world.
The Board also approved a new Service Literature piece, Forming a General Service Office Outside North America. This publication provides guidance for areas that may eventually transition from a local service group into a General Service Office—a service entity similar in function to the World Service Office but focused specifically on serving its own local fellowship and geographical area.
These documents are intended to offer guidance, share experience, and support worldwide unity while recognizing that service structures develop gradually and according to local needs.
