Recovering from serious loss, trauma, or addiction is difficult to do alone. Just as sexaholics may seek recovery with other sexaholics, their family members and friends can also benefit from joining together in recovery. Finding others who have been affected by someone else’s sex addiction and who are willing to listen and share their experience, strength, and hope can be a great relief. With the help of our Higher Power, our S-Anon Family Groups are able to offer a safe haven of mutual support and compassionate understanding.
We may think that our problems are unique, and we may feel that we are alone in this situation, but in S-Anon we soon discover that we have much in common with other members. We recognize that even though the exact details of sexaholism in our lives may differ, the effects upon us are much the same. When we face our problems together in a safe environment with others who understand, the power the disease has over us lessens with time. Experiencing acceptance and love from other members offers us hope and encouragement as we begin our recovery.
