Tradition Ten helps us keep the focus on our primary spiritual aim rather than getting distracted by other concerns. By keeping outside issues outside, we avoid controversy and division within our group. Aside from sharing in general terms for a newcomer’s sake what brought us to S-Anon, we do not discuss the addict and his or her specific behavior, as that is an outside issue. Those details can vary greatly and can point out the differences in our stories rather than what we have in common—recovery from the effects upon us of someone’s sexual addiction. Instead, we focus on what unites us—our common solution.
