The 2025 World Service Conference (WSC) was held in Dallas, TX, on July 25, 2025 to review reports from the Area Delegates and the Board of Trustees and its Committees, as well as to consider items that affect S-Anon as a whole. We extend our gratitude to all WSC members and trusted servants who contributed to this important event, as well as to all those who shared the voice of their groups with their Area Delegate! While the full WSC Summary Packet, including minutes and reports, will be distributed this fall, the results of the motions considered at the Conference are as follows:
Motion One: Move that the World Service Conference retire Robert’s Rules of Order as its process for decision making for a period of one year from August 2025 through July 2026. Motion did not pass (10 in favor, 15 opposed)
Motion Two: Move that the World Service Conference approve a Fellowship-Wide Group Conscience, to be implemented by the World Service Office and guided by the Board of Trustees, to determine whether the S-Anon Fellowship supports removing gender-specific pronouns that refer to God in the S-Anon Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. Motion did not pass (7 in favor, 18 opposed)
According to the World Service Conference Charter, Section VIII Conference Procedure:
“In order to maintain substantial unanimity, two-thirds of the registered WSC members in attendance at the WSC must vote in favor of any decisions and/or motions in order for them to pass, with the exception of those requiring a three-quarters vote.”
The WSC is made up of members of the S-Anon Board of Trustees and Area Delegates. S-Anon groups have the opportunity to select an Area Delegate to represent their voice at the WSC in decisions affecting the fellowship as a whole.
Many Area Delegate positions remain vacant! While the 2026 WSC is still just under a year away, there’s much an Area Delegate can do now to support the growth of local S-Anon groups and group participation in the S-Anon fellowship as a whole. Carrying the voice of S-Anon groups to the WSC is just one of many responsibilities of this vital service role. Learn more the Area Delegate role.
