I would like to share final 2023 financial results with our S-Anon Family, now that our 2023 Form 990 tax return has been filed. Our fiscal year end is December 31st, and we use the cash basis of accounting. We ended 2023 with total net income of $48,148.77.
Our Income
Compared to 2022, our literature sales increased in 2023 by $7,522.12 and our Seventh Tradition contributions decreased by ($3,235.73). We received S-Anon international convention proceeds of $3,556.64. It was wonderful to gather again as a family at our convention in Nashville in June of 2023. The overall difference in our gross profit between 2023 and 2022 was an increase of $24,334.59.
Our Expenses
The Board of Trustees (BOT) and the World Service Conference (WSC) utilized on-line video conferencing platforms to conduct our meetings for 2023. The World Service Conference Committee and additional volunteers did an amazing job of utilizing this virtual conference platform for the WSC for the third year in a row.
S-Anon worldwide meetings continued to meet via phone, video platforms, hybrid, and in person only meetings. There were also other recovery events that met via video platform as well as in person for Marathons, Retreats, etc. Kudos to all who continued to provide meeting opportunities for recovery allowing us to continue experiencing a broader expanse of experience, strength, and hope (ESH).
Our total expenses for 2023 increased by $14,966.58. The increase included expenses associated with the June 2023 S-Anon-hosted international convention in Nashville, a new S-Anon phone system utilizing Ring Central, the continuation of the Search Engine Optimization undertaking to help those seeking help to find S-Anon’s website, and the Find a Meeting website project and optimization of our website.
2023 Profit & Loss Statement & 2023 Year-End Balance Sheet
We would like to thank the fellowship for their continued support of the WSO through their S-Anon groups and as individuals via Seventh Tradition contributions and purchase of S-Anon literature.
2023
We were able to gather in person once again as a family at an S-Anon international convention June 2023 in Nashville, TN. What an amazing weekend! The recordings from this event are available for purchase in the S-Anon literature store under audio products. The S-Anon WSO Technology Support Team was able to record the speakers and breakout sessions at the Chicago Area Retreat in Oct. 2023, and those recordings are also available on our website. We also continued to update and upgrade portions of our website.
2024
We had total revenues of $180,491.02 and expenditures of $135,951.60 for a net revenue of $44,539.42. More detail will be provided in a future WSO Update from the Treasurer’s Corner once we have filed the IRS Form 990 for 2024.
2025
Look for upcoming retreats and marathons on our website. Be on the lookout for our newest S-Anon book, Into the Light: S-Anon Members Share Experience, Strength, and Hope, which we hope to publish in late 2025 or early 2026. The book is comprised primarily of members’ stories from the discontinued publication S-Anews and will be available in our online store.
Our recovery family will be gathering again in Dallas, TX, on July 25-27, 2025, at an international convention being held in cooperation with SA: Surrender, Deep in The Heart of Texas.
Prior to the convention in Dallas, the following S-Anon service bodies will be gathering for meetings:
-The Board of Trustees (BOT) will meet during the day on July 23rd with a strategic consultant and on July 24th for their annual face-to-face meeting.
-The Area Delegates will be gathering on the evening of July 24th for their annual face-to-face meeting.
-On July 25 the World Service Conference (WSC) will be meeting during the day. We invite any S-Anon members to join us as an observer at this meeting to see how the WSC models S-Anon service in action as it discusses items that affect the S-Anon fellowship as a whole.
More information about Area Delegates may be found on the S-Anon website, including which areas currently have Delegates and which areas are in need of a Delegate.
We have completed the 2025 Budget, a collaboration between the WSO, Finance Committee, and the Board of Trustees, and an article to update the fellowship will be published in an upcoming WSO Update.
Again, thank you for all your financial support by making Seventh Tradition contributions, purchasing items from our literature store, volunteering for service, attending conventions, and being a member of S-Anon.
Thank you,
Dawnielle A., Board of Trustees Treasurer
