Service work has always been a very important part of my recovery in S-Anon. My most rewarding service has been working with the S-Ateen fellowship since it began in November of 1996. I am proud to still be serving as an S-Ateen Group Sponsor and as a member of the S-Ateen Committee. For almost 27 years, S-Ateen has been available to young people ages 12 to 19 who are seeking their own recovery from the effects of another person’s sexaholism.
Currently, there are no in-person S-Ateen meetings. Weekly virtual meetings are offered via the S-Ateen Online Community on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. A second virtual meeting was recently started, meeting on the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Two certified S-Ateen Group Sponsors are present at every S-Ateen meeting. The S-Ateen Committee has discussed expanding the meeting on Saturday mornings. To be able to do this, we need additional S-Ateen Group Sponsors who are willing to serve on the S-Ateen meetings. Many inquiries about S-Ateen have come from the United Kingdom and other countries outside of the United States and Canada. It would be helpful to have experienced S-Anon members outside of the United States and Canada who are interested in serving as S-Ateen Group Sponsors.
Please contact the S-Ateen Committee Chairperson at s-ateen@sanon.org if you are interested in becoming certified as an S-Ateen Group Sponsor. Additional information on serving as an S-Ateen Group Sponsor can be found on the S-Anon website. The video “S-Ateen Speaks” provides more information about the S-Ateen fellowship.
Interested in doing outreach? Groups can also help to carry the message of S-Ateen using the Outreach to Professionals Letter template recently published on the web site. Additionally, all the S-Ateen and S-Anon outreach videos can also be found on the S-Anon YouTube account for easy sharing.
