The Board of Trustees Treasurer is here to provide insight into 2021 financials, new S-Anon literature, and upcoming events, and to share gratitude for the generous support of the S-Anon World Service Office provided by members and groups.

I want to share with our S-Anon family that we ended the 2021 fiscal year (January 1 – December 31) with total net income of $60,251.05. We use the cash basis of accounting.  View the 2021 Balance Sheet and the 2021 Profit and Loss Statement.

The Board of Trustees (BOT) and the World Service Conference (WSC) utilized online video conferencing platforms to conduct all meetings in 2021; therefore, S-Anon did not incur any meeting-related travel expenses.  The World Service Conference Committee and additional volunteers did an amazing job to transition the WSC from an in-person event to a virtual conference.

Just as the BOT and WSC utilized alternative methods of gathering, S-Anon groups worldwide found ways to continue to meet: either via phone, video platform, hybrid, or in person.  Members were also able to connect via video platforms for marathons, retreats, and for the Atlanta and Salt Lake City International Conventions.  Kudos to both convention committees for pivoting from in-person to virtual events!

In spite of all the disruptions, pains, and inconveniences caused by worldwide events beyond our control, there have been many blessings and opportunities to apply Steps One, Two, and Three in more areas of our lives.  We saw that there were opportunities for members to attend more meetings virtually than they had previously in person. These newfound options have allowed us to experience a broader sense of experience, strength, and hope (ESH) than was previously possible other than at international conventions.

The S-Anon group and individual support of the WSO during these changes is amazing.  Your generosity has exceeded 2020 donations, and our literature sales for 2021 exceeded our budget projections. Thank you! Speaking of literature: have you read our newest bound book S-Anon Twelve Traditions and the new booklet What is the S-Anon Point of View? Both publications are available for purchase through the online S-Anon literature store.

We will soon be able to gather in person again as family in Nashville, TN for the Together in Hope, Joy, and Gratitude S-Anon and S-Ateen International Convention, June 23-25, 2023. Registration for this in-person event will go live in January 2023 at www.sanon.org. While our last in-person gathering at an International Convention was in January 2020, you can still be part of, or relive, the ESH from an in-person convention via recordings.  The recordings from that event are available for purchase via the online S-Anon literature store under audio products.

Looking forward…

We continue to update and upgrade portions of our website, www.sanon.org. Make sure to check it often.

We are in the process of completing the 2023 Budget—in collaboration with the WSO, Finance Committee, and the Board of Trustees.

Please check out our events page for local, regional, and International Conventions, including the S-Anon and SA Ultimate Winter Recovery Conference taking place in Sarasota, FL, February 3-5, 2023, and the Together in Hope, Joy, and Gratitude S-Anon and S-Ateen International Convention in Nashville, TN, June 23-25, 2023.

Thank all of you again for your financial support by making Seventh tradition donations, purchasing items from our literature store, volunteering for service, attending conventions, and being grateful members of S-Anon.

Thank you,

Dawnielle A.
