The Special Appeal is a tri-annual request from the S-Anon World Service Office for 7th Tradition donations. Please share this appeal with your group and consider making a contribution today!
Dear S-Anon Members,
I have been to more online S-Anon meetings than ever before over the last two years and my recovery experience has grown since I became open to attending meetings in different ways. I am grateful for the service provided by the members who stepped up to make phone and online meetings available to our fellowship. As for my home group, we have lost a few regulars, gained new members, and continue to meet over the phone. I really miss seeing everyone.
S-Anon meetings are only one of the many spiritual tools I use to stay grounded and connected to my Higher Power and attending them regularly is essential for my recovery. Because many groups now gather via phone or online platforms, I am grateful to have access to multiple meetings every day. They are listed on the Worldwide Phone and Virtual Meeting Schedule that the S-Anon World Service Office (WSO) distributes.
Over the past year, I have tapped into many additional resources that the WSO provides, such as the free Service Literature download “Starting S-Anon Groups.” This is one of a wealth of Service Literature pieces available on the S-Anon Member Site, member.sanon.org. I even replaced my very used and loved S-Anon Twelve Steps, Working the S-Anon Program, and Reflections of Hope books, and purchased the newly published Traditions Ten, Eleven and Twelve booklet. I really appreciate that S-Anon Literature is written by S-Anon members, from the S-Anon point of view.
While purchasing literature is one way we as members can support the WSO, we also must remember that our contributions are necessary to ensure that the WSO can continue to carry the message of recovery by distributing literature and meeting information. Thinking back to my own time as a newcomer, the WSO was my first contact with S-Anon, and I know others have had similar experiences. When I called, the staff was able to answer a few questions about the program and provided me with a local contact. In the years since I joined S-Anon, I have called and emailed the WSO with questions regarding my service work, and I am always grateful to the staff member who responds to my inquiries.
My request to the fellowship is this: if you are being of service during a meeting, please include a separate call for contributions to the WSO from your members in the spirit of the Seventh Tradition. If you are unable to contribute regularly at your meetings, contributions may be sent directly to the WSO by visiting www.sanon.org/donate or through PayPal at paypal.me/sanonwso. One-time contributions are always greatly appreciated, but the S-Anon WSO has monthly expenses. Responses to these tri-annual Special Appeals help provide consistent financial support to the WSO so that service to newcomers and the S-Anon fellowship can continue. Thank you for your service and contributions.
With a grateful heart and in service,
Kathleen S., Grateful member of S-Anon
